蘋果證實，該公司已就近期傳出的iPhone 8電池膨裂事件展開調查。
蘋果於9月發布iPhone 8，並在當月正式出貨。受各界矚目的高端旗艦機iPhone X則預計於下月開賣。
然而，包括中國、台灣、加拿大' '103931加拿大在內的多個國家近期不約而同傳出iPhone 8電池膨脹、撐開機殼的事件。電池並未出現爆炸' '103730爆炸及起火情形，僅導致機身外觀毀損。蘋果對此發出簡短聲明表示：「我們對此深感警覺，正在進行調查。」
根據統計，各地通報的iPhone 8電池膨裂事件目前累積共六起，在蘋果售出的數百萬支iPhone中占相當少數。考量製造規模之大，蘋果生產的手機中有幾支存在問題其實是可預期的事。不過，由於三星電子旗艦機Note 7因電池爆炸而停產的殷鑑不遠，蘋果確實得在電池相關問題上格外謹慎。
目前尚不清楚出問題的電池何以膨裂。凱恩能源研究顧問公司董事總經理賈菲（Sam Jaffe）表示，全新電池膨裂事件相當不尋常，這些電池肯定存在某些根本問題。
